Every year, PTN’s physical therapists and the United States Adaptive Recreation Center (USARC) team up to offer the children of PTN a fun day of adaptive skiing on the slopes of Big Bear. USARC offers adaptive snow ski lessons in hopes of sharing the exciting, safe world of snow skiing with children with special needs. Using the best adaptive equipment and teaching techniques available, private one-on-one instruction maximizes each child’s potential for a fun-filled, successful day on the slopes! Each student is individually assessed by an instructor, outfitted with appropriate adaptive equipment and led through the lesson at a safe, fun-filled pace. Children must be at least 5 years of age to participate, some weight restrictions may apply.
PTN is assisting in organizing a small group to Big Bear for PTN children on February 14, 2020.
Space on the trip is extremely limited. Priority will be given to first-time families.
Sign-ups for the trip are taken directly by PTN. Ski lessons will be taught by USARC.
Registration is now closed for the 2020 ski trip.
- Fee includes all adaptive equipment, lift ticket, individualized one-on-one instruction and on-site support from a PTN representative.
- Transportation to/from Big Bear is the responsibility of each family. A PTN representative will meet you on February 14 at the United States Adaptive Recreation Center at Bear Mountain Ski Resort.
- Ski lessons are from 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. A parent or guardian must be onsite at all times (you are able to ski with your child if you wish). Lunch and lunch supervision (noon -1 p.m.) is your responsibility.
- You can access USARC on your own to arrange an alternate ski day for your child and family. Reservations are required for all USARC programs and should be made well in advance as avaliability is limited and demand is high. Contact USARC directly at 909-584-0269 or visit www.USARC.org.
